In June of 2008, five women traveled from Michigan and California to Miami to Santiago de Chile, and finally to Cordoba, Argentina. After a long trip, coaches were happy to work with the Hogar Ceferino Namuncura, an after-school program for the children that live in the poorer neighborhood in the Parish of Guadalupe. Basketball as a Mission worked with over fifty children from the ages of 6 to 16 on their basic basketball skills and their teamwork abilities. Campers also received a great deal of gear, apparel, prizes and treats. Basketball as a Mission also built a rim and provided basketballs for the after school program, so the children could continue enjoying the game.
