Colleen Aguilar

Founder, President

Colleen Lewis-Aguilar founded Basketball as a Mission in 2005 after she visited the Dominican Republic on a missionary trip to each English. She combines her love of teaching and coaching with her generosity and faith to hold camps inspiring camps each year. Currently, Colleen teaches math and coaches basketball at Saint Anthony’s High School in Long Beach, CA.

Lindsay Yocum, CSCS

Vice President

Lindsay Yocum joined BaaM in 2010 by coaching in three camps. She was a point guard at Willamette University in Salem, OR. Lindsay now owns her own business, SMART Training, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist for athletes throughout the Los Angeles area. Her love of basketball and coaching has lead her to join BaaM  to continue sharing her passion.

Allison Tingwall

Treasurer

Allison Tingwall is a high school Spanish teacher and cross country and basketball coach on the westside of Chicago.  She and Basketball as a Mission President, Colleen Lewis, were basketball and volleyball teammates when they attended high school in Novi, Michigan.  Her athletic particpation through high school and college has matured into a lifelong pursuit to optimize her personal fitness and nutrition, and Allison is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for health and wellness with others.  Her current athletic endeavors include distance running, ultimate frisbee, and CrossFit.  Allison was a coach at our 2009 Costa Rica camp and our 2010 Dominican Republic camp.

Jenny McCleary

Secretary

Jenny McCleary graduated in 2010 from Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, CA. She was an active participant in the Basketball as a Mission club at Bishop since it’s inception three years ago. Jenny is currently balancing the demands of attending Cal State Dominguez Hills as a math education major and working at Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Anne O’Neil

Publicist

Anne O’Neil attended the University of Illinois and Iowa State University on a basketball scholarship. At Iowa State, she became a collegiate All-American and led her team to the NCAA tournament in 2005. After college, she was drafted to the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA. Anne has also coached basketball at Eastern Illinois University and currently works as a full-time Dental Sales rep. www.anneoneilhoops.com

Beatriz Molina

Chair of Directors

Beatriz Molina comes from a diverse background and a wealth of life experience. Since moving to the United States from Bógota, Colómbia, Beatriz has created a successful career at Printronix as an account manager. Her superior knowledge in communication and leadership makes Beatriz imperative to the function of the Board.

Kathi Grummel, CFRE

Kathi joins us to help guide our strategic planning to expand the impact of our mission over the next five years. As a Certified Fundraising Executive, Kathi understands the importance between sports and business and appreciates that Basketball as a Mission brings tenacity and teamwork to areas that don’t have the privilege of learning these skills without help. She is the Development Director for The Chicagoland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and has more than 20 years of non-profit development experience.

Andres Haro

Andres Haro graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School in 2009 and is currently the assistant program director at Elite Martial Arts Training Center in Redondo Beach, CA. Besides being a board member for Basketball as a Mission, Andres is our liason with Elite Training Center in Redondo Beach and has helped the organization to grow by incorporating self defense into our camps.

Lawrence King

Lawrence King graduated in 2010 from Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, CA. He was an active participant in the Basketball as a Mission club at Bishop Montgomery High School since his freshmen year. Lawrence is currently attending California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a major in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Medicine. He is also a freshmen point guard for Cal Poly Pomona’s basketball team.

Dan Szanja

Daniel Szajna graduated from Western Illinois University and has over 10 years of experience in public purchasing/procurement and diversity programs.  Currently employed at the University of Illinois, Daniel has worked with Basketball as a Mission to promote the organization and seeks to assist the organization in additional partnerships to build on it’s current success.

Sara Robles

Sara Robles graduated from Bishop Montgomery HS in 2010 and currently is attending West Los Angeles College where she is competing in volleyball. Sara attended the Dominican Republic camp in 2010 and is aiding our efforts in continuing this amazing cause.

Felix Gabriel Gonzalez

“Gabe” Gonzalez graduated from Bishop Montgomery HS in 2010. He currently is playing football at El Camino Community College. Gabe attended the Dominican Republic camp in 2010 and continues to aid our organization as it expands.
